Our Weekend In Aspen Colorado was an experience and adventure we always remember and can’t wait to go back to. This place is Magical and a definite bucket list visit. Between the mountains, tress and lakes your always surrounded by nature. If you love the outdoors and nature, then you will love it here.
Our First Adventure:
We landed at the Denver Airport and rented a car and drove to Aspen with a handful of children and 3 adults. The scenery was breath taking but the roads where slippery and driving around the steep mountains was exiting but scary. After our first scare of the car slipping and almost sending us over the Clift we started moving a lot slower.
Outdoor Activities To Do In Aspen:
Because of its outstanding location surrounded by some of the most gorgeous scenery in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Aspen has a lot to offer outdoor enthusiasts in both summer and winter.
- Skiing: Aspen its best know for its; this small mountain village is bordered by four massive ski slopes.
- Hiking: There are endless options for day hikes and backpacking trips surrounding Aspen. Check out some hiking option here.
- CANOEING, RAFTING & STANDUP PADDLEBOARDING: Whitewater rafting is the ultimate adrenaline rush. Aspen is also home to mellow streams. If you prefer a quiet canoe or standup paddleboard ride, check out the North Star Nature Preserve
- ICE SKATING: A fun for all family activity that never gets old.
- CARRIAGE & SLEIGH RIDES: How often do we get to experience this. This is so much fun for Adults and Kids.
The best craft beers from all over the world:
Aspen Brewing Company produces award-winning beer that is found throughout Colorado. And savored at their local tap room in downtown Aspen.
My favorite; The Season’s Blond pale ale with wheat and honey malt aromas balanced by floral and citrus hop flavors. The Brown Bearale, is also a delicious and chocolaty brew named after the bears. May be found in Aspen throughout the summer, if you enjoy a darker craft beer.
A weekend was not enough for us:
We where just getting started wanting to experience all the many activities in Aspen. I definitely recommend a longer stay then a weekend, especially with kids.
Because of our short stay we mostly enjoyed the scenery, walking and hiking. We enjoyed exploring the city of Aspen with all the unique shop, delicious foods, craft beer. Our highlight for the kids of course was the snow. Snow was just starting to fall again and we got to enjoy the beauty of playing in it and the kids having a blast throwing snow/ice at one another.
Our dream is to one day go back and spend more time is this beautiful place we enjoyed so much; with endless outdoor activities.
