Highs and Lows of a Working Mom are endless, and learning to manage and balance everything is a must for our sanity. Being a Mother is one of the hardest roles we have as women and yet so rewarding. We all know that there are only 24 hours in a day, and raising children can literally suck up every second of that time, whether you are a stay-at-home mother, a 9 to 5 employee, the owner of your own company, or something else entirely. How do we find time and get it all done?
The highs and lows as a Working Mom are not always seen or understood by others. Every situation is different so comparing to others is only going to lead to more frustration, shame and guilt.
My low’s:
Have been when I am forgetting to take a step back and being okay with not always getting everything done. Or when I don’t take time out for myself, seek help or organize my time. It is overwhelming especially when our children are little and demand so much or our time and energy that we forget to focus on us and taking that daily time out to re-fill our cup.
My Highs:
Taking time out is very important for me. What I mean by that is remembering that I will get through this and that everything is going to work out. As a mother raising my kids on my own I Learned that it’s very helpful to set up a support system. To have someone to talk to. Like; having a friend, being in a parenting program or having a coach to talk to. We all need to talk things through and listen to others stories to remind us that we are not in this alone. Everyone has a journey and a story of their own!
Getting outside in nature does wonders, even if it’s just to catch a breath of fresh air and ground with nature. This provides a great time to reflect and observe what has been working and what needs to change.
Key Things to Prevent Burnout In Low Times:
- Be kind to yourself: Self love is key in everything we do, so don’t forget to be gentle with you.
- Eliminate Your Guilt: Know that you are doing the best you can.
- Ask for assistance: We need others support, it’s important to be okay with receiving the help you need.
- Finding What Works For You: What has worked for me may not work for you. So figuring out what works is a big step.
- Taking Time For You: This is important, even if it’s just 5 minutes at a time.
It is important to ask ourselves and be honest with what we truly desire:
Over all when it comes to being a working mom, know what you want to create for you and your family. If what you are doing is not working be open to learning new skills. Ask yourself; what would work for you and your children to provide that time and freedom? What is your passion? What would you love to create?
